OPP Racing has developed a Thermal Protection Kit to protect your lower from the high heat from your exhaust headers. Our lowers are AMA-approved so there is no cut-out to vent heat from the exhaust headers. The extreme temperatures can cause your carbon fiber to turn an ugly, opaque brown color.

You can protect your lower by purchasing our Thermal Protection Kit. This kit consists of:

• Two (2) rolls of Black Exhaust Header Wrap (1" x 50' each);
• One (1) roll of Cool Tape (1-3/8" x 30' roll)
• One (1) set of Stainless Steel Locking Ties (8 x 8")
• One (1) can of High Heat Silicone Sealant
• One (1) medium sheet of Reflect-a-Cool (24" x 36")

1. Remove your lower from your bike.
2. FOR THE HEADERS: Ensure that your exhaust headers are cool and dry.
3. Wrap your headers with the Exhaust Header Wrap. Instructions are included with each box of wrap.
4. Secure the ends with the Stainless Steel Locking Ties. Clip off the extra bits.
5. Wrap the ends of the header wrap with the Cool Tape. Use enough to cover the ends plus the locking ties. You may not need all of the Cool Tape, you can use the excess with the Reflect-A-Cool.
6. Spray the headers with the High Heat Silicone Sealant. Let it sit overnight in a warm, dry area.
7. The Fun Part: After letting the headers dry overnight, move your bike to a WELL VENTILATED AREA (preferably outside). Start your bike and let the engine idle for 15 minutes. Your bike will begin to smoke - this is the BURNING PHASE. Don't worry, your bike won't catch on fire...it just looks like it will. (Feel free to have a fire extinguisher handy if it makes you feel better.) After 15 minutes, turn off your bike and let it cool down.
8. FOR THE LOWER: Cut your Reflect-A-Cool into 6" x 24" strips. Cover the area directly underneath each header as well plus a 6" margin on each side. Each sheet has an adhesive backing for easy application. You can use any excess Cool Tape to secure the edges of the Reflect-A-Cool.
9. Attach your lower to your bike.
